New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji
Jonathan is New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji, where he has been posted since 2018. Jonathan will shortly conclude his assignment in Fiji and return to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington as the Head of the Middle East and African Division.
Jonathan is a career diplomat, who joined the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2000. 
Prior to taking up his assignment in Fiji, he served as Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey from July 2014 until December 2017. While in Ankara, Jonathan was also non-resident Ambassador to Israel, Jordan, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
His other overseas assignments have included Tonga and Egypt. 
Jonathan was born in Timaru, and studied at the University of Canterbury and subsequently at Victoria University of Wellington.
He has been joined in Suva by his wife Florence (Fololeni), who was born and raised in Tonga.
